Default Anybody in NYC?

We are going to be in NYC for a few days next month. I'm hoping to find the name of a really good Chinese restaurant. Not really interested in a touristy location but one where the food is super great.

Thank you in advance if anyone can help me.

I'll ask my daughter - she lives in NYC and her boyfriend is Chinese, so I'm sure he'll say his mom's. LOL We've been to many restaurants they have suggested, but none of them have been Chinese.

where are you staying? are you willing to use the subways or do you prefer buses? The best place for Chinese food (imho) is Chinatown. Almost every restaurant there is good. My favorite for lunch is Nom Wah Teahouse; they serve great dim sum though their atmosphere is not fabulous. I've been going there since I found them through a Gourmet article in the late 70s. And, walking the streets is an experience in itself. There is also a restaurant named Grand Szechuan and they have several locations. That is the restaurant my best friend uses for her daughter's birthday (for family) as her daughter was adopted from China. Their food is good but can be spicy. PM me if you want more info.

Hi All,

Sorry to be so late in responding to you. I have been too dumb to find these responses. I understand our hotel is basically across the street from the World Trade center. Even though I grew up in Queens and went to school in Manhattan, I haven't been to the city in the 50 some years since my marriage. I am not the least bit hesitant to use public transportation of any kind. I always found the city an easy place to get around in. Taxis are an alternative also but we plan on subway and bus.

As an aside, NYC Quilter, 2 of my grand daughters were also adopted from China. I was lucky enough to go with my daughter, a single mom, for both adoptions. Here in AZ I keep longing for what I think of as NYC chinese food.

Thanks to you all for your offer to help.
