I am never sure if I should post here or in the main topic but oh well ...

After seeing all these wonderful posts regarding stockings it has gotten ms thinking .... Do you have a new one each year or do you reuse them each year??

Growing up we each (one of seven) had our own stocking with our initial on it.

My husband and I have used the same store bought stockings for two years now but my DMIL buys us stockings each year. We are expecting our own little one in March and next year I plan on making our little family stockings to reuse but I was just wondering if anyone else did this? Or do you make new stockings each year and donate your old ones??

Happy sewing and quilting!!

Used same ones as kids were growing up. When added SIL made new ones for their adult selves. Made grandboys stockings for their first Christmases and expect them to use them for years.

I made stockings with names for everyone in my family and they are used year after year. When someone gets married or a new birth, there is always a request for a stocking. I do the quilted braided scrappy with the name down the middle on a green, red, blue, or cream strip so they all coordinate no matter when they are made.

When my oldest was a baby we bought the largest stocking available. It's probably 5 feet tall. So when the other 5 came along we needed to get them a 5 foot stocking. The are arranged coming down the stairs in birth order. We laugh and tease saying "It looks like the walls are bleeding". Those are just for decoration. They each have a small one hanging on the banister on the way down. So we do reuse our stockings each year, both sets:)

I don't see why one would need a "new" one each year??

I've had the same one for over half a century! All of ours are used year after year--tradition!
