I have three sons (ages 22, 19 and 13) and they all love sports. I learned a long time ago that sports is a good way to connect with them. I enjoy talking and watching sports with them. Even when they aren't around, I still enjoy watching.

I know I'm going to sound terribly snobby, but I don't care for professional sports. I say support the local teams, but when it turns professional, and I hear the money that gets poured into the commercialism of said, it just turns my stomach. So many good things could be done with all that money. I feel the same way about movies and the entertainment biz as well. Where could we be if 1/2 the time and money that goes into entertainment (counting professional sports) went into local teams, fine arts, and our kids' educations...

::sigh:: I probably shouldn't have even posted, but my kids are in sports and theater at school, and it's sad to see how little encouragement and support they get from the same community that will spend hundreds of dollars per capita to travel to professional events, and it's discouraging.

We don't even have TV in the house, so it doesn't distract us at home.

I LOVE LOVE football season, from high school to professional. I play fanasty football on team that DSIL started although I am losing very badly. Hate when I have to work weekends because I miss games. My hubby and I try to go to at least 3 or 4 games in a season, even if we don't root for the home team. Saturday tv on from 12 noon until last game played around 11 pm all football. Repeat on Sunday. Repeat for monday night game. Hubby did not like it at first but he has come around and doesn't bug me so much when I'm watching. I will go to sewing room if need be to watch game. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!!!

Soccer rules in our house. My DH & DS will get up at 4am on Saturday mornings to watch English League soccer broadcasts live. Of course, if they can't find soccer then any sport on the TV will do. Building DH a mancave in the basement (unlimited sports on TV) is on my to do list. Right after I get my sewing room finished... I have a long road ahead.
