Great idea using 2 different textures. The felt makes the flower petals look so soft. I will have to try using felt.
Do you have any tips when working with felt?

I found the felt very easy to work with since it doesn't fray. Easy to cut and super easy to sew. I did pin it down but once I had most of the petals sewn down I took the pins out and the felt stayed in place while I sewed it all to the backing material. I hope you have as much fun sewing with felt as I did.
