and she wants to come home. She's only been at the camp like 14 days! She got written up for having her cell phone....even though her supervisor told her to cause they were getting horses in. She was in absolute tears last night. We talked on the phone for an hour and by the time we hung up she was ok. Background...dd is 19 and away from home for the first time working at a horse camp in Pa. The one who wrote her up is over maintenance. Apparently he was being rather rude to her and several of the other girls on horse staff and she said something about it. So now he has it in for dd. I told her just to be exceedingly nice to him and not give him a reason to harass her....lay on that southern charm she has so much of. Then I asked her if she wanted me to come "take care" of him....she said yes! Momma Bear to the rescue if need be! Seriously though her supervisor is a friend of a friend and is being papa bear with her. He was furious that the guy wrote her up.So hopefully things will settle down and she will enjoy her summer. Dh and I have decided though that I need to speed up on her quilt I'm going to make and send it to her before camp is over. So today I make the signature blocks to send up there to be signed. Then once they are in the mail I'll start on the rest. In the meantime I'm thankful I don't have to deal with this guy......I'm past the age of caring what others think and he's messing with MY little girl.....course if the guy had seen dh's face when I told him about this he'd run!

I think it will be a good summer for her....if she gets over being homesick. But yea I could kick some *$$ for hurting her feelings. Oh and I'm 5'3" on a good day...osteo hasn't kicked in yet apparently! DD delights in telling people "you don't wanna mess with my momma...she's got a shot gun and can skin a deer!" lol!

There is nothing worse than being homesick!! I moved from Il. to Ca. at 18 with my husband and baby. Couldn't afford to make long distant calls back then, and when I could talk to mom or dad, I started crying as soon as I heard their voice. I'm sure it made my parents, feel really great NOT! I was so homesick, I actually left my husband to go back home! lol I grew up, a little, and we transferred to KY. which was closer to home, and at least the homesickness was a little better, but it never left completely, not for many years. My husband turned down many lucretive positions over the years just because I wouldn"T leave my kids. And we've never had regrets about that. Now they all live within 20 minutes of me and we all like that just fine. Mommas are the best thing in the world!! Next to children and grandkids!!

I don't want to step on toes but maybe send some cards to reinforce of how she is becoming a beautiful strong woman. Things like that to build her confidence up. Sounds like she has it , she just wants to hear it from you. You are her ROCK and always will be. Hopw she knows how lucky she is to have a Mother that cares soo much.

I agree! Tell her to get out there and get the job done. While it is tough to hear them cry, she is the one with the growing pains.

This experience is teaching her to become an independant young adult and is GOOD for her. I was in the USMC, and while this guy might be tough, I guarantee any one of my DIs could take him with one petite hand tied behind their backs. She will become the same way, intelligent strong and independent.
