Today I was minding my own business in the train, waiting to get to my stop and school and I closed my eyes. Big No No in the subway. when I opened them, there was this tiny girl in front of me holding a musical instrument. She was not taller than me (I am short) and she dragged this huge double bass into the train. I missed to see her because my eyes were closed. It almost touched the top of the train and blocked the door. If she had dropped it it would have landed on me. Guess who is not closing her eyes again.

I've only been to NY once but I learned that you see many interesting things on the subway. Don't think I'd close my eyes either.

After watching a video of the subway on TV last night, (rat climbing up a sleeping man), I will NEVER ride one again. I am going to visit in March and already told my daughter that it is going to be Taxis for me.

That video put my story into perspective. I'd have a bass anytime over a rat. I have never seen an animal like that and hope never to see one. I hope you bring enough money for taxis. It cost now $2.50 just to sit in one and the fare per unit is outrageous. Here you can check the rates.:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/html/pas...cab_rate.shtml

Keep in mind that one unit also counts as every minute that the car is moving at under 12 miles per hour, which happens to be most of the ride in Manhattan. Let me know when you are here. If I have a light schedule in school we can meet if you wish.

Maria

If you're lucky maybe you'll be picked up by the Cash Cab.

Hold onto your hat & belt in good! Last time I got a taxi ride in NY I was ready to kiss the ground when I got out of it! LOL!

I would love to meet you.
My daughter has a car. She lives in Manhattan and teaches in the Bronx. So, I will find a way around, She made fun of me yesterday and told me that I will just have to suck it up. I heard that the video was a hoax. It was his pet. YUK, anyway.

The last time we were in one my daughter told the driver to stop and the proceeded to tell him he was crazy and then she reported him after we got out. I was thankful to be out of that cab alive.

I am not too sure about that. His reaction didn't seem to be of one who would expect to find a rat of his face. He pushed that animal out. It seemed rare to me that the video was so well taken and so complete, but like with so many other hoaxes, we may never know. I was the other day watching a roach trying to climb someone's leg. I tried to tell him but he didn't speak English or Spanish. Eventually the roach gave up and went into the train vents. I wonder how many others are out there. YUK!!!
