Hi, need some advice. Husband wants to relocate to nashville area. I'm ok with this except I don't know how the weather is at winter time. We live on long island n.y. and we have damp wet cold winters. I get sinus and ear infections all the time, but only in the winter. So I was wondering if the weather there is mild enough that I could enjoy the winter. Any response would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :mrgreen:

I am not sure how the weather is there. I lived in Northern Mississippi years ago, and it snowed during the winter. Have you tried looking at the local news channels in Nashville? Maybe they have an archive of some sorts. Or try Weather.com or NOAA weather for past forecasts. I am subject to sinus problems all year due to chronic sinusitis and having an allergy to pine tree pollen and its sap. These days with the air pollution, the so called global warming and our current cooling trend, no where is safe from the ravages of snow.
I have been through parts of Tennessee and its beautiful.

I've tried weather.com. I usually do get daily reports. I think I'm looking for more of an overview. Maybe since I'm from L.I. N.Y. we are getting pounded with snow as I write. So any where right now is better than here. We're expecting 13 plus inches. Have been through tennnessee and t is beautiful that's one of the reasons my DH wants to move there.

I am in Nashville!!! What is it you want to know? Our summers are hot hot hot. Our winters have been quite chilly but not as cold as NY. we do get occasional snow, but its not much and it usually disappears fast.

Good thing is that when it is cold or snows, They close down the schools around here. we dont have snow trucks and they dont lay down ice. People around here dont have snow blowers or even shovels!

I am right outside of Nashville, Taxes in Nashville are high for TN But not as high as yours. I would look into Murfreesboro, Franklin or Brentwood.

Hi, my DH has an opportunity to work in oakridge. I think it's great so we're considering. As far as the snow we're getting hit now with 13 plus inches. This is a little rare. We normally get 3-4 at a time. This is a cold winter this season average temp.29 during the day. It feels like winter here approximately 1 week before thanksgiving. But the actual change is halloween. We always have a short fall. So when does your winter kinda start and end? We love the hot weather, spring and fall too. The biggest thing for me is damp cold... Do you get that?

this winter has been UNUSUALLY cold, most cold ever. We never get snow. I think it happens here every 4 years.

Last year I didnt wear a coat, This year i had to buy one.

Its cold but not freezing. I am from NY originally and I am not cold. The people here are all in boots and hats and what not, its funny to see!!

i am not sure where Oakridge is, but I think you would like it. Schools are good, if you have kids. Lots of shopping, taxes are lower.

Oakridge is closer to Knoxville there weather is milder than in Nashville. Summer has pretty high humidity (80 to 100 degrees). allergies to ragweed and other particles are rampant. Very little snow unless you go towards the mountains. usually 1 foot or less and usually gone by the next day. temperatures in the winter are pretty mild compared to you (20-60 degrees)
and at least 10 quilt shops within 30 minute drive

Oakridge is a little northeast maybe half hour? Anyway ... it sound as if you have mild winters then right? Where In NY are you from?
