I want to thank everyone who sent me suggestions trying to help me get my laptop back up and running. I have tried them all and nothing has worked. I guess now I just need to make up my mind to take it to a repair shop or find a new one.

have you tried doing a search online? sometimes you can find help there. or go to the site like HP or Dell, etc.

If you don't mind not having an inboard cd/dvd player,dh and i both love our netbooks. dh's first one suicided by jumping off the couch arm and he replaced it at once with another one..$280! far as i am concerned they can't be beat, we both sit on the couch and pass them back and forth! for my small hands i love the keyboard size it's perfect. check consumer's reports onine they just did new computer and netbooks 1 or 2 months ago.
