The Things People Say
#101
Daddy had more ways to say "I'm going to spank you" than he did ways to wail the switch. I used to wince at those euphemisms...
"Light up your tail"
"Paint your back porch red"
"tan your hide" **(a favorite of his)
"set your backside on fire"
"skin you alive"
"burn your britches"
"whoop your tail"
"tear up your hind end"
I'm sure I've missed about a hundred or so... And my hubby is from the South too and said the same kind of things to our children.

Although I know the expression refers to a horse that was not rubbed down properly after a ride, around here it is a sexual slang and not used in polite company.

A few more just 'came to mind'...
Mind your own business
Don't pay him no mind or Never mind him (Don't believe him or ignore him)
Mind your p's and q's (behavior warning when visiting friends or relatives)
Don't mind if I do (Response to an invitation- meaning Yes, I'll have some -or yes, I'll go with you.)
It's mind over matter, if you don't mind it won't matter (Don't worry about it)
She a Messy Bessie (sloppy) He's just messin' with you (teasing you)

I know a lot of phrases that I picked up from my biker friends.
Cage - a car, called a cage because a car is basically a steel cage around the passengers
Cagin' it - riding in the car
Riding b**ch - on the back of the bike (passenger) and it doesn't matter if it is a boy or girl on the back.
One of our biker friends used to say "looks like two kittens fighting in a gunny sack" when he was referring to a curvy behind
Luggage b**ch - someone who is caging it or has extra room on their motorcycle to carry belongings for others again used for either sex
Sherpa same as above
Ride like your butt is on fire and your head is about to catch - go fast
Go topless or lidless - ride without a helmet
I felt about as welcome as a turd in a punch bowl. I think that one is self explanatory. LOL
Tail gunner - the person at the back of the group of riders
We also use the rode hard and put away wet term and it usually refers to a long day of several hundred miles and adverse weather conditions, either horribly hot, or rain or through a storm.
