Thinking "Outside the Basket"...what do you think? Does this work as a bassinet for the dolly...or look more like the basket Moses was in? lol! >

My DGD's 2nd birthday is next week. Many of you have watched my progress as I made a Dinky baby for her and a matching quilt. It just kept bothering me that the poor baby doll didn't have a bed of his own. So after learning how to make a fabric basket...I started wondering what I could do in terms of a basket/bassinet for the baby doll. This is what I came up with. Do you think it will float with her? lol! (pun intended) blessings, Karen

Baby all comfy and cozy in his bed

That's cute! The other day my granddaughter (3 years old) set her dolly up with a sleeping bag and pillow. The sleeping bag was a sock! It was the cutest thing!

Beautiful and creative work. It's a great idea - I love the shape of the basket.

Great work. Was it difficult to sew it together?

No, not really. I've made 3 other baskets before this...though all were round shaped. This was the first one that was oval and the first time for me to make handles like this...so I was guessing how to do this as I went. But I'm amazed that (as long as you get your tension right on your machine) it's not really too difficult. Just tedious to wrap the fabric on the clothesline. You just sew using a zig zag stitch. Once you get the hang of it...it goes pretty smoothly.

Wow! Karen that baby basket is great! Your baskets are all nice! Did you get a chance to make the baby doll sling thing too?
