Today is a mile stone in my life. Thirty years ago today I gave birth to my children. They are triplets. They are all celebrating their birthdays today. I've been very blessed by them in my life. They are all good children and productive citizens. I have loved ever minute of being their mother. I'm also a grandmother now, which is another wonderful blessing.
It is a little hard to realize that time has past so fast.
When they were infants I needed a little bit of "me time". My husband was very supportive so I went to a quilting class for 2 hours a week.
The teacher was a purist and taught hand piecing and hand quilting. I was only able to take classes off and on. In fact it took 7 years to complete a Sampler quilt.
I retired last Oct after being a Computer Media Specialist in an Elementary School for 22 years. My children were attending the school and I was volunteering in their classrooms. The principal came to me when he learned about my qualifications and told me about them creating this position. It was a perfect fit for me. I enjoyed every day of work. It was hard to retire.
I loved my job, but now I love being home with my husband and being retired. I've gone back to the school a few times as a substitute and I wear a button that says "will work for fabric". I have had a blessed life.

Retirement seems to take awhile to get used to. I just retired in July after 37 years of teaching elementary school. I am glad that I can stay home when the weather is bad and I can sleep in when I'm tired, but I miss the children and the everyday challenges of teaching. I always felt that I had the perfect job. Now I watch my two active grandsons three days a week.

What a lovely story and I greatly appreciate you sharing it. Your family sounds like a true treasure and that is just awesome in today's somewhat tumultuous, at times, world. I just retired from my university position at the end of December and although I, too, miss the students I am loving the freedom of time.

Blessings to you and your family.

What a wonderful joy in having triplets. I know two sets in my area. It sounds like you had a good job too.

Congratulations on the triplet's birthday and on your retirement. I, too, retired after 30 years teaching high school science... but I turned right around and went to physical therapist assistant school. I'm working 2-3 days each week in a nursing home close by and loving every minute of it! It is especially nice not to have to be at school by 8 every morning and REALLY nice to not bring any work home with me every night... but I miss the kids and I miss the classroom... I really miss that "oh, cool!!!" moment...
sigh...
The best part is, more time for sewing!
