DH & I went to the Chicago area for a family reunion over the holiday weekend. Our first stop was to meet Craftybear !!!! We had a great time!
Family reunion was a lot of fun. We met several relatives we had never met.
I got to talk quilts with several, as there were 6 quilters there! I learned, I taught, I shared.
Got home to find our Internet is down! Has been down since Sat & they say it may not be back up til Tues afternoon ! I'm on here via my phone. But I have things I want to do & get done that now will have to wait
Our next family reunion is in 3 yrs & DH & I are in charge! We are going to hold it in Pigeon Forge. TN!
Catch ya all later- once the internet is back up

One thing I'll suggest while I'm thinking about it...before hand, contact all the attendees and suggest bringing to the meeting family photograph albums. Everyone will be surprised at how a "face" will suddenly turn up 2 generations down the line!!! Seeing your own self dressed in a dress with what looks like the rear end of a horse following you and huge, massively stuffed sleeves and low cut front will startle the hot dog out of your hand!!! Or seeing your own face looking back at you while dressed in a shabby uniform and clutching a long rifle might bring a tear to your eye.
And have family bring photos they have no idea of who was who, and stick them up on sign boards with 3x5 cards underneath, just in case someone can name and date them.
My DH's family did that and a lot of unnamed pictures were named and often given to their closest kin.
Good luck....

I know what you mean, and after 2 or 3 of these reunions with no one ever knowing a name, I've very reluctantly discarded those old pictures. Couldn't force myself to trash them, I put them in albums and donated them to a local church yard sale. Some one bought them...might have thought they were their own family, or may tell folks they were. In any case, I don't have to store them now!!!
