It wouldn't take him any time at all to fix up the house and go shopping and then get some rest so he could come visit me in the evening. Well, he found out.

Dson, 7, flatly refused to eat anything that didn't have mac and cheese with it, DD 16 was allergic to wheat and milk, DD 17 was in her "I an't gonna eat any eggs because they come out of a chicken's butt" stage. Oldest Doberman had to have a special diet because of his age, youngest Dobie needed extra fats in her food because as a recent rescue she was still starved. Oldest cat had kidney problems and had to have a special diet he hated, youngest cat ate every one's food, including the kids'.

Poor dear DH, he visited the hospital totally wiped out!!! Said that he had just gotten the kids fed and out the door and suddenly they started coming back, slamming the door and demanding dinner, and all he had been able to do was feed the pets and put the dishes in the sink.

NEVER, ever after that till the day he died almost 35 years later, did he ever ask me what I did during the day. Dinner not ready yet? No problem. News paper all torn up and TV guide lost? Sink stopped up? No problem. Nothing bothered him after that! Cat and dog fighting? No problem, the cat was boss and let everyone know it.

Every woman should go away for a week each year, and leave DH home with the kids. And dogs. And cats. And housekeeping. And ironing.
I had to laugh when I read your story. My DH asked me what I did all day at home. We have 6 kids and they were all at home at the time. I went on vacation with my sister to visit our brothers in Texas and left him home with the kids and the house. We were gone for 9 days. I have never heard anymore about what I did all day either. We now have only 1 kid at home and I am not working and he still never says a word about things not being done or supper not ready. Sometimes they need to find out what it is like.

DH will help, but I have to ask. But then I don't help in the garden except to pick berries so I don't mind. He's not a neat freak so that helps when the house isn't spotless. As if that could happen.
