and my mom's birthday! We got married on my mom's birthday Jan 19 in 1975. Seems so long ago!! My dad knew how nervous I was and he sang happy birthday in my ear all the way down the aisle! LOL Sweet memory especially as he has been gone for 20 yrs now.

We met in Sept in 75 and moved in together in Oct. (Not done in my Quaker family!) In Dec Glen said we'll fix your mom we'll get married!(she was ranting and raving that she didn't raise me to live that way etc) He gave me my engagement ring on Friday the 13th that Dec and we celebrate every Fri the 13th since.
We got married in Jan and one month later found out I was pregnant. I had Sara Oct 2 75. Few months later I was pregnant again and Nathan was born Oct 23 76. He almost died at birth with pneumonia. He was a blue baby and rushed from the hosp I was in to a diff hosp with a Neo natal unit. I didn't get to hold him til he was 10 days old. He was there for 14 days.
When Nathan was 5 mos old and Sara 17 mos old my DH flipped a fork lift at work and had a severe brain injury and was in a coma for 2 1/2 weeks. We didn't know if he would die or not for the first week. He is now handicapped with a brain injury and makes life interesting. I was pregnant at the time and the first thing he remembered on coming out of the haziess of the coma and semicoma was that I was pregnant again.
I miscarried 2 mos after he got out of the hosp.
When Nathan was 1 yr old he had an infection in one eye and I ended up with him in isolation in Iowa City hosp for 10 days. He nearly lost his eye. We were investigated for child abuse. They thought I had beaten him. He looked really bad! His eye was swollen twice it's size and black and blue.
Then I was pregnant again and had Glen in April of 78.

I have always said if we could go through all that in the first 4 years of our marriage--We had only been married 2 yrs when his head injury happened- then we can go through anything and here we are 36 yrs later.
I wouldn't change a thing not even the accident because it has taught us a thing or two and I kinda like the people we are today.

We are going to go out to eat at Ryan's with Mom in a bit. It is the only time Glen will drive with her!
   He hates her driving! LOL

Happy Anniversary. You have what is called "True Love" Through thick and thin you love each other. More people need to do this and we would have alot less divorce's.

Happy Anniversary. Your love for each other shows in all the things you do for those of us on the QB - tutorials and quilting templates are two I am aware of.

My MIL was convinced I was going to leave him so she told me to go while he was in a coma so it would be less stressful for him!! It was the only time we ever seriously argued!! She is a wonderful MIL and we love each other. But you tell me I can't do something and it makes me all the more determined! Besides I didn't have any intention of leaving him. I got married for life not for fair weather.

Happy Anniversary!! Happy Birthday to your Mom!! Rhonda how I wish I could sit with you and have you tell me about your life. Do you keep a journal? You are a wonderful writer and I think that generations that will come in future years could benefit from your life experiences. If your life was a book I would buy it and read it!!
