My husband & I are planning a two/three week vacation to the New England area to see the fall foliage this year. We are thinking probably the 1st week of October. All you quilters in that area,..give me some advise and MUST SEE places. We have planned this trip for five years and looks like we will finally get to go. We will travel with our 5th wheel camper, so if you know of any great Rv parks let me know. thanks for all your help!!!

New England is breathtaking in the fall. You will love it! There are lots of LQS. You may want to visit Keepsake Quilting in Center Harbor, NH. Have a wonderful trip!

I am watching this thread because you are describing a dream trip to me.
Like you, I would love to take a leisurely trip all through New England. I miss the fall colors of my youth in Chicago.

I'm partial to NH (born and raised), and also love Vermont. I would recommend driving the Kanc in the fall. Read all about it: http://www.kancamagushighway.com/

Thanks for starting this topic! We're hoping to do the same thing in 2012, so I'll be lurking, watching all the great advice.

Make sure you have reservations - I know the motels fill up quickly, not sure about RV parks but it wouldn't hurt to plan in advance. Unless you like Walmart parking lots, lol.

I second the Keepsake Quilting and Kancamagus (but there will be LOTS of traffic on it). Shelburne Museum in Vermont has a great quilt collection. Also the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell.

I would definitely include Cape Cod, you might also like Newport RI. Plimoth Plantation is on the order of Old Sturbridge village, if you like history.
