Website design/host...recommendations please
I'm looking to transfer to a new website host and am wondering if you have any recommendations. I have an online shop along with our brick and mortar store, and I am severely unhappy with our current host (Webs.com). If you have a recommendation for a site with good e-commerce, design, and customer service, I would be forever grateful for your recommendations.
Thanks,
Christine

Well if you want to hire someone I am available! In the meantime. have a look at shopify. It's pretty popular and easy to use. It really comes down to your individual needs. Some people don't need to bother with it, as they can run a store front from a blog and with paypal(like leah day). Others need something more robust.

I have been making websites for about 10 years now. I recommend HostGator.com as having the most reliable uptime and very reasonable costs. Their help desk is awesome. For the website itself I recommend Wordpress. It is a one click install from within your hosting cpanel. There are TONS of videos on YouTube with tutorials on how to do everything in Wordpress. I think it is a pretty easy learning curve compared to making websites using HTML. Using Wordpress you will need a Theme (think template). You can get a free one, along with various plug-ins (they give specific functionality) free at Wordpress.org
Hope this helps!

Appreciate all the input....definitely will check these out. Now that I have my "feet wet" with a do-it-yourself website, I have a better idea of what to look for and what will fit our needs this time around. Thanks!

I'd give them a try and see what you think. I have all my customers but one on their and I've not heard a bad work about them at all. The one customer that isn't with them is because they chose to set up their own with a family member that does hosting and they got it for free. Their support is second to none and when I have had an issue, it's been resolved in less than a few hours.
good luck! Nothing worse than a bad hosting company
