In Williams Arizona, is a cute quilt shop, west of Flagstaff and Flag is a nice town in its self. A terrific machine store is Odegaards that has been there several generations. They do carry fabric, etc.

If you stop in Williams, Arizona, they have an old train that runs to the lodge at Grand Canyon. I hope you will take time to see the Grand Canyon. The fabric shop in Williams has downsized quite a bit so while it's still good, it's doesn't have the variety it used to. We travel the western part of route 66 before it turns north and we love all the quaint places along the way. I know you will have a good time.

Welcome to the USA.... here is a great website with a directory of all the shops in the different states with different events etc... not sure when you are coming but you may be able to see a quilt show or a shop hop of the stores along the way... enjoy the journey!!!
We used to be in the military and we had English neighbors in our base housing.... they thought they could see all of the USA in one month.... we just looked at them and smiled... they stayed for three years and took a one month vacation every year and still did not see it all.... loved it though and loved the sunshine we had!!!

My son used to live in Elk City, Oklahoma and they had a replica of a town during the Route 66 era as a museum. They have a calliope in their park encased in a glass building. There was a quilt shop there as well in a drapery shop! Enjoy your trip and welcome to our country!

I Love rt 66 but you might want to jump off just a bit while in the Flagstaff area and visit Sedon, oak creek canyon and Jerome ghost town. Not a lot of quilt shops but amazing places.
Also the yard sale is not really near rt 66 did that last year with the sisters its an experience all of its own. And not something I would do on a motor bike to many amazing things you couldnt purchase Hahahaha Google WLYS......worlds longest yard sale. When I did it we met a group from Europe that had been doing it for a few years the rent a lg van and every night would pack all thier treasures and mail it home the next day. They said it was like discovering it all over again when they got home and opened them up.

When you get to Indiana stop in French lick & do some gambling there. It is the home of larry bird of the Celtics.If you get that far give me a call in paoli the next town over & I will meet you . If Tiger Mart (Can't remember the location, but you can't miss it) is still there, you must stop. The back wall of the store is all glass, with real tigers in the cages. Scared me silly to hear them before I saw them. Lol! Take the detour to the north rim of the Grand Canyon. So worth the trip. bring lots of sunscreen for the trip. My sister and I did old 66 from Amarillo, TX to Los Angeles, CA in 2001. Still the best trip ever! Thank you bratsisterjodie!
