Default A True Story

After a year, I finally decided to go with my husband to his deer lease which has a stocked fishing pond. Since I had not gone fishing for an equally long amount of time, he took me there to enjoy myself. And Oh I did. The weather was perfect, the fish were biting, and I was having a great time. After catching several and throwing them back I had another on the little treble hook. As I was reeling it in, it became stuck in the moss close to the bank. I yanked a little too hard and the hook went flying and plunk landed on the back of my head. Ouch, just a quick sting, but the hook was set. My husband was able to cut all of the barbs away but the one stuck in my head. He tried and tried to get it out but no luck. Well the only thing to do was go to the ER. Did I mention we were on a dirt road about 45 minutes from a paved one. Finally got to the town about 18 miles away to only discover no hospital and no ER. Had to back to an even smaller town which happened to be closer to the lease. The staff was friendly and helpful (no bill yet). Anyway the doctor was able to quickly get the hook out without cutting (just pushed it through). No pain, no excessive bleeding, and no shots. The kicker was the nurses were giving the doctor a good ribbing about the whole event. Guess what his name was? Dr. Fish. And I have been laughing ever since.

I can see why the nurses had a giggle over this. Sounds like he was a good sport about it all.

Funny about Dr's name but I'm glad you wasn't seriously injured being way out in the boondocks!
