we found a turtle in the piney woods of texas. he was a box turtle living amongst the trees, so naturally the kids wanted to take him home with us. like fools we did. well, turned out speedy was a water turtle and ate bananas, who knew? so we put him in a major aquarium. guess the water got a little hi and one day there was no speedy. 4 yrs. later. our neighbors showed us the burrow under their garden shed where their turtle lived. seems about 3 yrs ago he had just turned up in their yard and made himself to home. we oohed, ahhed, and never said a word about ol' speedy. i really think our dog took speedy for a walk and never brought him back.

You're not alone in saving turtles! I did the same thing one day on my way into work. Saw a turtle in the middle of the road, pulled over, ran over to it, and it scooted across the road, right into the curbstone! Saved its little butt! so cute.
