I have to process my photos off of my digital camera thru a photo program so they are always right side up.

With iPhones and iPads, etc - there are 2 orientations that are right and two that are wrong.
The Home button (the circle on the front) should be pointing down or to the right. If it's on the left or the top, your photos will be upside down. They'll look right on the iPad or the iPhone because they read the extra information embedded in the picture and orient it the right way. vBulletin - the software that runs the QB - doesn't read any of that and displays the photos sideways or upside down.

The same happens with some computer programs as well. I use irfanview on the PC and it reads that extra information as well and displays things correctly. I have to save the file with the photo rotated correctly first before I can upload it and have it display correctly on the QB.

Android phones will have similar rules, I just don't have a modern android device here at the moment to check it.

Thanks for the info ArchiacArcane. I have this problems sometimes with my iPad and have never figured out what was wrong. I always process the pictures through Microsoft Picture Manager to rotate and compress, but sometimes the pictures show up sideways or upside down when I post them. Now I know the answer and I can do it the "right" way.
Thanks again,
Julie

Let's hope so. I haven't had anything to post yet, but I am taking all of my pictures with my iPad the right way now. And I have shared this info with all my friends.
Thanks again,
Julie

Thanks for posting this bugs the heck out of me because it makes it really hard to see the picture defeating the purpose of posting. Its not hard to rotate before posting.
