My grand daughter just traveled across country with a friend. I would love to make her a wall hanging that she could some how acknowledge her travels over the future years. Any suggestions as to how to do it.
If I embroidered I would make badges for each state and then she could just sew then on as she goes.
I would love some help. Thanks :-D

I would gladly send you a badge from Iowa if that would help.

How about doing a large center block of the US and coloring in all the states she went through. You could easily print a page, enlarge it to size, and color it in. I would think she could go back and color in more states in the future as long as she remembered to heat set them.

You could then do some border blocks representing things she saw along the way.

A map of the US would be wonderful and she could collect lapel or hat pins where she goes. I have a collection and always thought it would be nice to display all these pins somehow.

Perhaps you could print pictures representative of the places or states where she's traveled onto fabric and then sew those onto a 'map' outlined quilt as others have suggested.
