i'm going on a two-week vacation to the dominican republic with david starting on monday the 7th (6 a.m. - one eye will still be closed) and returning on the 19th. we'll be in puerto plata at a resort. i've never been to a tropical island before, so i hope it's as good as it sounds. :lol: terri will have tell me, right? i know she's on a pebble, but i think this might be also. :roll:

so, can anyone recommend a good lqs in the dominican republic? ;) :?

I've never been, but it sounds wonderful! I hope you have a fabulous time and are successful finding an LQS. :-D

The only thing is, what will we do for jokes and funny stories while you're gone? I spent some time earlier this evening showing several to my DH. He liked the "Bird Poop" a lot (I don't think he cares for pigeons), but he seemed to really enjoy finding all the details in the "Optical Illusion." I guess we all did. :-D

It includes that you have to buy a tourist pass when you land at the airport- 10 USD per person which lasts up to 30 days. Didn't know if you knew that. :-D

Also, practice your Spanish - here's some phrases:

Donde està el bar? - Where is the bar?
Dos cervezas, por favor. - Two beers please.
Gracias. - Thanks.
Holà, guapo! - Hiya handsome guy! (David needs to say 'guapa' if he sees a nice girl! :mrgreen: )

Been on tropical vacations many times.. in a non US area? Bring BUG SPRAY.. in Mexico you can get DDT (yup) which at the time seemed pretty darned good. Depends on how far out from tourist areas you are. The farther you go.. the less chance of "OFF" being sold. Wouldnt stop me fromgoing again.. you going to find heaven. And check out early sunrises and last minute sunsets.. they didnt put them in movies without a reason. They are truly special.Oh and dont go for a night walk without a flashlight (thats when the large spiders go walking too)... I did it, in thongs.. only once.
