Can we talk Vacuums?

I currently own a 6 year old dyson, and its about to die on me. Anyone with pets (i own a parrot who like to throw her seed everywhere!) out there that have a vacuum that sucks? :)

I wont spend more than 200 on a decent vacuum if that much. I was thinking of Panasonic there is a store here that sells them.

Have you had your Dyson in for a tune up? I bought one because the boss and his wife had one that was several years old, starting to act up....they took it to the shop and it didn't cost them much to get it back in great working order!

I love my Dyson...and hope to have it forever! :)

We have a Dyson in the home & one for the RV since we have 2 very lg shedding dogs. Have had the Dysons for over 7 years and use the one in the house a couple times a day usually. They are still running great. My DH does clean them often. I will never have any other brand. Not with these 2 dogs. LOL I am sorry that yours is causing a problem. Which one do you have? We have the purple & gray one. Don't know what it is called.

I have the Oreck and I love it for the carpets. It really is very light. The Oreck that I have does not have any attachments so I use another one, free when I bought the top of the line ($700 ?) Oreck, to get under the cabinets and usually on slick floors.

I have a Dyson that I have had for several years. I clean the brush every time I use it - cat and dog hair along with mine. I also wash out the parts that can be washed once a month and let them dry overnight.
Prices have come down on them from what I have seen at places like Target. I paid $500, they are now around $300.
There is a Shark that is very close to the Dyson now that is around $200.
Never loses suction etc.
I have had many different brands, most do not hold up like the Dyson does for me.
