Oh how I have missed everyone on the board, busy over the last few months with surgery, a death in the family and putting in an apartment and preparing to move, I long for live to settle down so that I may become an active participant on the board.

I do have a question: We are looking to purchase a Bosch ventless clothes dryer.....does anyone have an knowledge or use ventless dryers? Do you Love them/Hate them? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a beautiful day!!

Never heard of them. I did once live in an apartment that had no vent to the outside for our dryer. It vented right into our living space. The complex gave us this odd bucket that hooked onto the end of the hose, there was a reservoir at the bottom for water. It sucked, so I took it off and put cheap nylons over the end of the hose instead. Just changed the nylon after every 3rd load or so.

I have never heard of a vent less dryer.

It's great to vent the dryer in the house during the winter to add heat and humidity to the air. Just put a nylon hose over the dryer vent hose. I lived in many crappy apartments when I was young and had no outside vent for the dryer. It wasn't nice in the summer though with all that hot air going into the room.

I don't own a vent-less dryer, but the specs on the ones I have looked didn't look great. They use seem to use more electricity than average and drying time is estimated to be longer.

We had an old type many years ago. It had an enclosed type thingy on the bottom that collected the water and had to be emptied after each load. it had a filter for the lint. It was intended and designed to be used like that. A regular dryer is not designed to be used without an outside vent. Too much moisture will cause mold and eventually rot the wood in your house. You will get lots of dust, will be shocked at how much. Do not do this with a gas dryer, carbon monoxide poisoning can kill without you knowing it.

Many RV (campers/motorhomes) dryers are ventless - they run on 110v and do take longer to dry. I am not familiar with residential models.
