I know exactly how you feel. We farm too and just finished digging potatoes on Tuesday this week. This morning there was a skiff of ice on the deck, so it was time. There were also a few snow flakes in the air but then this is Canada.

Here in Wisconsin, there is so much corn - from our plentiful harvest - that the feed mills quit taking it!!! Finally a good year and no place to go with it. In my world, the harvest if finished and now we move to haul millions of gallons of manure!! Stinky job but means good money!!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!Yes, It seems like I surrounded by corn this year! We had a new ethenol plant built a few years back, so everyone here grows as much corn as they can, lol!

Isn't it a good feeling to have the harvest done, and everyone safe. It's always a worry because the men work extra long hours trying to get done. Here in Iowa, the weather has been perfect for the whole month of October. The last measurable rain we had was in September, so our men were able to stay in the fields without interruption.

I read your post and did the 'what?" I forget that your summer is our winter. Our weather man says we are going to get our first week of rain, this week. You haven't been rained on, until you get a Pacific Northwest rain. In the southern US, it can rain several inches in an hour, but here, we get an inch or two in several days. Wet, soggy, gray. I just love the green we get from it, but SAD is a real problem here in the winter. Enjoy your sunshine!

this so reminds me of my godmother's mother, who at 96 was worried what would happen when she died to her daughter [who 73 and was married]---how will "little Dolly" cope !!
