Default The Military Wives Choir

I was in "Live Chat" last night and mentioned this to the others on line at that time and they thought it was lovely - so wanted to share with you all. This choir was set up by Gareth Reynolds in the UK, who went to a military base where the wives of men who were serving in Afghanistan lived. Many of them had never sung before, and did not think they could sing. He motivated them and they performed - first in front of the public in a market place, then in front of an Officers passing out parade at Sandhurst and ultimately at The Festival of Rememberance at The Royal Albert Hall in London in front of the Queen and other members of the Royal family - hundreds of other dignitaries and relayed on television. This is the link.

It brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it and the words were taken from letters written to their husbands/partners and the replies from the soldiers to them. They were then composed into this song by Paul Mealor,
who also composed some music for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine.
I hope you like it. Please let me know if this link does not work !

Yep they did their husbands, partners, boyfriends proud - made me feel very emotional and also made me realise just what our boys are doing for, not just the UK but for everyone

The choirmasters name is Gareth Malone, not Reynolds.

the song is hauntingly beautiful and so heartfelt and meaningful. It is very strongly tipped to be the christmas number one.

The last Partner of the choir returned home this week. He was greeted by some members of the choir who sang the song on his submarine.

There was a three part series about the choir and thier behind the scenes advantures, trials and struggles, making the perfmanbce at the albert hall even more awe inspiring. An amazing group of women representing the thousands more keeping it together at home whilst their loved ones are off fighting to keep us all safe.

I tip my hat

Yes - I made an error - his surname is Malone - Muddled the surname with Reynolds - who did a gospell album
