Oh Bev if you can sit on shore not to bad, just dig some worms. But for us yes very expensive at times when we're walleye or steel head fishing, but this year might be cheap if the water temp stays cool we will only have to go 4 miles out vs. 13 miles out.

Oh, those were the days!! My family is from Painesville/Fairport, and we had a boat when I was a kid. I remember fishing for perch with treble hooks...and reeling in 3 at a time!!! On tin foil, baloney, minnows, whatever we had for bait!! We would catch enough in the fall to freeze for Friday all through Lent!! Fairport has a beautiful lighthouse at the top of the hill (Lighthouse Hill, the best sledding spot around :D ) It has never been in use that I can remember, but you can tour it and its just cool! I can't wait to retire and go back "home"...only 10 years or so to go :lol: :lol:
