It's been a long time coming.. there is just sooo much back stabbing going on that I had had it and went off... I felt bad about it and apologized about it afterwards... But I'm just so fed up about the women I work with being busybodies worrying about what other people are or aren't doing... I'm a quiet type so i hold it in until I just blow... which i did today... if you knew me you would know that is totally not like me at all! But everyone has their boiling point and today I hit mine in front of the whole office. Anyone ever do that? Did you apologize after? Did it make you feel better by speaking your mind?

Sometimes you just have to clear the air. My sister talks about those kinds of situations. And sometimes apologizing works, and sometimes it doesn't. My temper and mouth get me in trouble, but I am not good about getting out!

I'm just like you - a quiet type who never says anything back. Did the same thing you did in front of others. I just went off. No curse words came out of my mouth, but was tired of the boss cussing everyone out and especially my pastor friend who I worked with. I went off; told the boss off; took a stand against his evil. After that, he showed more respect to me than ever and we got along great after he learned I would not tolerate his cussing me out for no reason. Thank God my pastor friend was beside me and calmed the boss down! Almost lost my job that day but that wasn't important to me at the time. I told my pastor friend we weren't born to be doormats! More women left that place in tears because of this cussing boss! I felt great taking a stand against that evil in the workplace! Good for you. Now people will take notice that what you say you mean from here on out! Enough is enough. There is a time for everything. I will keep you in prayer along with the staff and especially pray for them as they need it. Hope things go better for you in the workplace. :-) :-)

Don't worry about it. You will feel better tomorrow after you sleep on it and most likely, someone feels like you about the situation and is happy you did something about it.

I know exactly how you feel. Yesterday we were informed that the place I work for is being closed in 90 days. (In NY you have to give a 90 days warning or the fines can be huge). All 600 of us will be unemployed comes February. Today, this guy who is always whinning and crying something, spent at least 20 minutes standing next to my cubicle and whinning about not knowing what to do. After a while I blew up and told him to grow up and move on. He has a working spouse who makes more money than he does. Many of us are the only one with an income at home, me included. He felt bad and left. He came back later and apologized and I was going to apologize too, but someone stopped me and told me that they were all waiting for me to blow up, since they all wanted to do it. I don't always do it, but when I do is usually not pretty.

I just usually end up crying and saying something really stupid, so I try really hard to go blow up with my lunch bunch, which is very safe. Don't know what I would do without them.

I don't have a lunch bunch to escape with because it's a very small office and we all go to lunch at different times so the phones will be covered... plus I don't want to go to lunch with the women there... they are the ones i need to get away from...lol

I've done it twice. Once when a co-worker was constantly critizing our boss, and constantly spending her work time looking online for another job - leaving me to do the bulk of the work. This had gone on for several weeks. She started going on again about our boss, and I told her to friggin' grow up, to go get another job if that's what she wanted, and to quit polluting the place for the rest of us. Then I glanced up and seen a customer had come in and sat down (optometrist office), and I'm sure he heard every word.
The 2nd was at my last job, and another employee, 2nd in charge, friend of the boss, was always a jerk. He was basically a nice guy though, just always bitched about everything. One day he directed it at me, over something not my doing. And I went off on him. Told him to either treat me with respect or never to speak again to me. I had put up with it for so long, as I was half afraid of losing my job as he was boss's friend, etc. Next morning said co-worker apologized to me, also said he'd told his wife about my going off on him, and that she agreed with me! We kind of almost became friends after that. :-)
Usually though, I do try to put up with things, or try to get them dealt with in a clean way. I try to act professional. But some people just make it real difficult.
:-)

I have done that a couple times, but usually just let my blood pressure go up beyond healthy limits. In both instances, my job was ended soon afterwards. Sometimes it feels better to not have constant abuse from a toxic workplace, but when the bills are due, there's a lot to be said for a roof over your head and having lights.

Times are rough. You may want to update your resume. Just remember there are over 200 applicants for every office job, and unless you are a perky young thing, chances are that you will end up in a full time job search like the rest of us.

Sorry to hit you with reality, but I've only had 2 interviews in six months, and send out my resume in a 200-mile stretch east and west of where I live.

Yes I have had that happen to me. I apologized to everyone but the one I went off on. She deserved it. I am not one to hold back usually. I try to be tactful but I speak my mind. I find I have less stress that way. Less migraine headaches.
