Absolutely make the effort to get her into jammies and take the blankie in the car. She WILL fall asleep on your trips, it's virtually a given, especially at night and later than her bedtime. And if you planned to come home between the trips, you might want to rethink that, if she's sleeping, so as not to wake a sleeping lion!

UPDATE:
I had a great time with my niece, although I was unable to go out due to the car getting stuck in the driveway. We had a lot of fun, having a tea-party, coloring and playing an alphabet game on the computer.
In fact there are two cars stuck in the ice in the driveway, one in front of the other. My dad worked on it for over half an hour, and then gave up. My mom got home a right after he gave up, so I am no longer on duty. We found someone to give my sister and BIL a ride home.

How exciting Joan, so glad you had that special time with your neice. And know what I really am glad the car was stuck and you didn't have to drive in ice, ESPECIALLY knowing the others found a safe way home. YEA!!!!! :)

The only think I can think of is letting her watch tv. Right now she is playing quietly in her room.
