Red face What do you enjoy about decorating for Christmas?

My husband and I began decorating the house for Christmas today. With our medical problems it takes us a few days. LOL. Yet, after spending basically the whole day accomplishing what we did, we were sitting and talking and I asked him What is your favorite part of decorating?

He said that hanging the Christmas bulbs was his favorite and went into describing various past events/instances and why that was his favorite. I really enjoyed listening to his memories.

My favorite part of decorating is arranging all of my Nativity Scenes. For me it is so calming. Now, I can not stop there....I also love to set up all of the Knick Knacks. Understand that for me with having the severe memory problems that I do, it is like opening Christmas presents all over again. YIPEE!! On top of that, my husband describes the memories that go along with them and we end up talking and laughing. It really is a special time.

One more thing that to me really makes Christmas decorations come alive (so to say) is the various Garland. They come in so many colors and just add that extra sparkle and brilliance to everything.

I just thought I would share and find out what your favorite part of decorating is and why? Looking forward to reading all of your responses. I also want to say Thank You for sharing.

I love decorating my Christmas tree...almost all the ornaments are homemade, either by me, or by friends, or are given to me as gifts...so many memories...made over 30 years +...and I think of so many people as I am doing the tree decorating...I play Christmas music and just really enjoy every minute I am hanging all the ornaments....looks very old fashioned.

I love it all. I have a tree in every room including the bathroom and each has a theme in the family room I have the fireplace surrounded by trees sort of a forest look. Even have trees in the hall way. I do it right after Thanksgiving then just enjoy it.

I love decorating the tree as a family we always have we have a lot of homemade ornaments some going back to my great grandmother it makes me smile of memories of Christmas past and looking forward to being a grandma myself now. I love the look on the grandchildren faces as they look at all the colors and lights. They get so excited to hang up their stockings by the fireplace. I get to tuck them into bed and relax with my daughters and DH.
We sit around with Christmas music on and talk about all of our memories and what we look forward to, its one of my favorite times of the yr.

From the time my children were little We always start deco. on the Day after Thanksgiving, it usually took 3-4 days to get it done and the tree did not go up untill the Sat. before Christmas. Now the kids are grown with homes of there own, we have 9 grands now, and we can't get out into the hills as easy as we used to, we now use an artifical tree, this year we had 6 Grands at our house and everything went up in one day! I was amased! Everything inside, Christmas Villiage with over 50 pieces, that does not count the ice rink with moving skaters or the half pike for the snowborders, the stair railing is lited, all the candels, and nick nacks are out the tree up. Out side the EX-Large star is hoisted up the flag pole, santa and his sleigh with 5 reindeer, all the blow ups are staked down, all the banisters are wraped in lights The sueit balls are all hung in the trees, all spot lites are working (can't wait to see the elec. bill this year! NOT)and through all the glitz and crazyness of the day the best part was watching my kids and grands every time something came out of a box it was OH remember when or I made that or Mom has had that forever. No mater what happens during the year it is the looks of joy I see on there faces each time they see a memorie, that means Christmas to me.

No decorating yet for me the 8th or 9th of Dec I put up the tree we have an artificial one but I have wanted a real one for the last 3 or 4 years even tho I am allergic to them. We will see what is available this year. I may once again go with the fake tree. I usually do an old fashioned type tee.

I haven't started my decorating yet, but I love having a real Christmas tree. I have all sorts of different random decorations for it - no theme re colour or anything else - so it is like a scrappy quilt... all colourful!!

I also have a particular love of tinsel. I will wrap it around everywhere
