My granddaughter calls me Gama Jana
Welcome to the Quilting Board!

My granddaughter calls me Gama Jana
My parents and grandparents have the right to formal names ie;I am not grand mother Grandma or Granny (my name for my grandmother Remember granny good witch on the sugar commercial sugar wheats or some such stuff) Tried grandmama did'nt work. I'm grammers and boney buns is poppie .But I'm just glad they talk to me.
My sis is Grammy Pammy. It fits her shes a dork.![]()
Lucky you to have this "worry"--I can't wait to have a grandchild. I hope to be called Nanny. My mom's mom was Nanny, her father was Poppa though he referred to himself as Pappy. My dad's mom started as Bobodan (don't know how) but about 7 years later, she changed to Grandma. Her husband was grandpa. My daughter has/had my mom (nanny) which she often shortened to Nan. My stepdad was Bobby (my mom's name for him), my dad was Grandpa (sometimes Gampa), my stepmother was Grandma, my MIL was Abuela, FIL was Abuelo (ex is Puerto Rican). When ex remarried, DD was older so uses first names for her stepmother's parents. Whew. Now, my DD calls my DH's father "abesan," a name I started and he loves as he loves all things Japanese and his name is Abe.
My grandchildren call me Grammie and I love it.
They don't talk yet but sofar we are being refered to as oma and opa since both DH and I are from Europe originally or bubu in the native tongue of some of my children that came home by adoption. I often refer to myself as grandma. I guess we'll see which one will stick when these little ones get big enough. My mother, oma to my children, passed away almost 7 years ago and I find it hard to be refered to as oma eventhough originally I was all for it. She was a wonderful grand mother.

I'm called Meemaw and my hubby is called Wayne. We could never figure out where the Meemaw came from or why our first grandchild called Wayne by his first name. Whatever they call you, it's just the sweetest sound ever when they say it.
Fabric is like money, no matter how much you have it's never enough.
For your hub, if he wants to use his name, maybe Grandpa His-first-name??? Whatever you choose, get your choice known so the other side doesn;'t nab the ones you like!!
My grandson started calling me grammy and so it began. I love it.
Always in Stitches,
So blessed in the opportunity of life, the gifts of nature, and the choice to do good to others. I'm thankful for this day.
