It really meant a lot that he went through all of the trouble (and money) to fly out to see me (I live in California). He was having trouble getting his base to approve leave and kept submitting the paperwork until they said yes.
What a very nice gift. Thank him for the gift of freedom from him to the USA...

I had a wonderful christmas eve with my two grown kids. They both got together and put a 1,000 piece puzzle of snoopy for me! It was the labor of love that made me cry. I'll post a pic when I can. Also this year I gifted myself: A bought a NookColor e-reader froom Barnes and Noble. I'm an avid reader and I have no more space to store books so I've been researching this one and just love it! Happy New Year to everyone here!

It is the one advertised on TV. I was at Walmart in the check out line and saw it and was thinking of getting it for myself. It was like $15 still so I wasn't. My adult adopted son helped me shopping that day and when he saw my reaction to it snatched it up and bought it for me for Christmas. I had a hard time waiting for it. LOL I know my soon to be daughter in love said her mother got one too for Christmas and loved it. I noticed they were all sold out soon after DS got mine at Walmart.

Glad you got your outdoor seating set. $100 is a really great deal for several pieces. Enjoy!

Don't you love it when your spouse gets a gift you totally love. Hehehehehe

My favorite present (besides a gift card to JoAnn's), was an outdoor table and chair set my mom bought us. The three of us saw it a while ago in a thrift store, but DH and I didn't feel like spending $100 that day, so we passed on it. My mom told me she went in a week later and it was still there, so she thought it was meant to be. It was such a thoughtful gift, to get us something she knew we already loved.

My DD bought DH and me the Roku system for our TVs. I love it. I never really thought about it being so simple but when DH had it hooked up and working in less then 15 min. anyone can. My new step grandsons LOVED the fleece tied blankets I made for them. Each one had their favorite sport team logos on the fleece. They were so appreciative. That was a great gift for me to see real happy grins when they unwrapped the quilts.

A Barnes and Noble NOOK from my kids and hubby. They completely shocked me! We are on the road a lot and I love to read so they thought it would be a good idea. My daughter buys tons of e books so she just transferred over lots for me to read.

my favorite Christmas gift came from Santa. when dh and i got home from seeing the 3 dd and dgkds there was a package wrapped in news paper, we had agreed not to exchange gifts. Inside the wrapping was a cardboard from a bolt of fabric. On the bolt this was written "Dearest Nancy, Santa is giving this to you because your husband wrote to me about how you had some money for sewing material and that his truck kept breaking down and costing so much to repair , you were afraid you didnnt have enough money to buy material. I asked Mrs Clause what kind of material to buy and she said it depends on what you are going to sew & make, So i decided to let you buy your own.
Merry Xmas Saint Nick. He left me $500!!!!!

Had three very special gifts this year. The first was a shopping day with my mom,my 17 y/o DD and my 17 y/o niece. We were supposed to have two other nieces along but they couldn't get the day off-planning ahead for next year so we can have the whole bunch together The second was that my oldest brothers 23 y/o daughter told me all she wanted for Christmas was for me to teach her to knit/crochet/and quilt. A very pleasant surprise as I really didn't think any of the younger family members had any interest in my hobbies! I definitely see a quilt in her future! The third of my best list was a surprise form my 19 y/o niece. She is a very modern stylish girl and not the type you would expect to like crafty things. I had started a baby quilt for her and never finished because I went back to school and then had kids of my own. I have kept it all these years, unsure what to do with it. I finally decided to show it to her and ask her if she wanted it - letting her know it would not hurt my feelings if she didn't want it, that I could donate it to charity. She saw it and was just thrilled - she wants me to finish it so she can have it for her own baby one day- hopefully far in the future-LOL! All these experiences made for a very Merry Christmas!! They meant much more than any material gift ever could!

Hmmm....three gifts, all from my brothers. One was that they all knew I was horribly missing our mother this year, and they/so's all showed up Christmas night with leftovers, just to have supper with me! Mom would have been happy.

The second gift was a beautiful antique little girl statue about 4" high, playing the violin. It had been an angel, but the wings had broken off, which my brother didn't realize until he went to wrap it. He felt bad, but I didn't. It reminded me that we can all aspire to be better. I think I'm going to leave her out year 'round.

The third gift was the best....the same brother had collected cool rocks all year long for us to put in our gardens. We each got 4 or 5 boxes of festively wrapped rocks! I haven't had that much fun in years! One of the girlfriends commented that she couldn't believe how much fun we were all having....over rocks.
