The other day I was out back and I saw a cat, a very skinny cat. He meowed at me but wouldn't come close so I had some left over chicken in the fridge and threw it out for him. He ate all that up quickly and only if I was inside. The next day I go out back and there he is meowing at me again. We had just finished dinner and had pork chops left so I threw those out to him. This time he let me get about 5 feet from him. He would just sit there and meow and then hiss at me. Meow and hiss, like he wanted to come near me but was afraid. I could get a good look at him and I could tell it had been some time sense he had eaten. Oh it just makes me so mad. I haven't seen him in 2 days, I hope he is ok.
Why do ppl do things like this? We have an animal shelter where he would be taken care of. To me it is like taking your own child and dumping them in the woods to starve to death.
Sorry I just had to vent. I have been thinking about this poor kitty being left like that. It's not right.

We have a man across the street from us that has a female cat. She has her litters under my house. Keeps my dogs barking at her. She is so wild we can get close to her.
After she has had her kitten she will take them back to his house. I do wish he would get her spade so we don't end up with a lot of cat in the area.

Is very upsetting to see that, if the animal was indeed dumped. I always give the benefit of the doubt. Our local shelter is always full to capacity. No cats are accepted. A few years ago a woman in town passed away and her family found 14 cats in her house. No one could get near them and they all took off before they could be adopted to anybody.I also had a female cat that every once in a while disappeared and I later found out she was a few door down, happy as a clam, and making me look bad.

Before the economy got bad the local humane society would spay and give check ups on ferral cats for free. We would take the cats down and had them fixed then let them free again in the same area. The lady down the street fed them but they were no longer reproducing. This practice was encourage by the shelter.

I have been adopted by a mommy cat and her three kittens  I am feeding them for the moment , but I know they need to go to the animal control , makes me sad . They are ferral and won't let anyone near them .

A stray small gray cat has been hanging around for the past few days. I'm thinking it's a girl - she seems to have an injured left front paw because she's favoring it - and she has the prettiest greenish gray eyes.
I don't want another cat. I don't want another cat. I don't want another cat.
I'm feeding it until I can catch it and take it to a no-kill shelter. She? seems to recognize "cat food" because when I set it out she started eating it.

Our Apartment complex is near the edge of town. We have a wooded area behind us and animals are always showing up out back but this poor kitty was the first one that looked starved. It just makes me sick.
