I just read a post on another forum about new government regulations on dishwashers. Evidently they are just not getting the dishes clean enough and they are not drying them properly because of water and temperature restrictions. Has anyone heard about this or purchased a new dishwasher recently?

I got a new one about a yr ago and it doesnt clean like the old one did.

There have been quite a few problems in the past year due to reformulation of the cleaning agents to remove phosphates. Finish Quantum Powerball seems to be considered the best of the current products, while the revised version of Cascade is having some issues.

I bought a new one 2 years ago when I built my house. It's great, best one I have ever had. Don't even have to rinse and the dishes are clean and shiny. I can also put it on steam clean, hi temp wash and sanitize. It is a Maytag.

I agree. We recently got a new dishwasher and it doesn't' clean as well as the old one. This is a "water saver" dishwasher and it is supposed to use a lot less water. But, the shortest cycle (even without the heat dry) is well over an hour.

But, I have read many places and tend to agree that it isn't just the dishwasher, but the removal of the phosphates from the soaps that makes the dishes not as clean.

i don't have a new diswasher, but i have a "eco-friendly" washer. you cannot use hot, hot water to wash anything. it has a temperature control that automatically adds cold water to the wash. this especially annoys me because my hot water is softened and my cold water is not. :cry:

Still have the original dishwasher - DH. Helps his arthritis.

If anyone complained about the dishwasher in my house they would get a bop on the head. And handed a dishrag so they could do it themselves, instead of me.
