We are off tomorrow on the Oregon Trail! We are trekking across the country from SW Mn to Salem Or. My fiance, grandpa, my 8yr old daughter, and our 2yr old son (and my fiance's 13yr old son on the way back). YIKES!! Keep us in your prayers for a safe journey, and as little stress as possible under the circumstances :)

Trekking - is that on foot???
You'll certainly see plenty!

While I have thoroughly enjoyed reading tales of travellers coming west, I can't imagine replicating their journey. Good luck to you.

Have you read the book by Sandra Dallas - The Quilt that Walked to Golden? You make me think of it!

Be sure to go on out to Independence, Oregon (20 miles west of Salem)....I believe they still have a replica of a wagon there.... Are you coming thru Baker City, Oregon??? They have the Interpretive Center there that is WONDERFUL showing the Oregon trail.....and all the educational stuff that is about the trail!

Maybe you could meet some of the board members when you get to Oregon!

Wow. Are you walking, taking a covered wagon, or what and how long to you expect your journey to take? Both my family and my husbands family came to the West in covered wagons on the Oregon Trail. What a fabulous trip this will be for you. Take lots of pictures so the rest of us can join you as you go. May God be your traveling companion and all of you are in my prayers.

You will really enjoy the trip... we drove it when I was 9 and I have been over it several times as an adult, too. :D:D:D
