The tube of iron cleaner is the best thing that ever happened to a person who uses an iron a lot.

I remember my mom doing the same thing. Haven't thought about that in years.

I wrote all of the suggestions down. Hopefully, my daughter will be over tomorrow and we can clean up her iron. I've learned a lot from ya'll. Thanks everyone.

I have used a new one and have used the same used one when I did another oops with the iron.

I have used iron cleaner (tube from JoAnn's), but salt spread on a paper bag is supposed to work also.

Parchment paper protects the iron. When ironing fusible, I always put a sheet of parchment paper on top before ironing. It's inexpensive too! Works just as well as the more expensive applique sheets, and it's so inexpensive it's disposable.

I'm still confused about the dryer sheet. Is the iron hot? I would think a hot iron would melt a dryer sheet.
