This quilt I'm working on, I've posted a couple of times, won't stop fighting me! I replaced one block due to an error on my machine's part. Then, tried quilting in the hoop. The quilt was too big and pushed the embroidery unit, so it thought it was in a different place than it was. I ripped out the stitches, put a hole in a block in the middle of the quilt. Fixed it. Tried it again. Same thing happened, and I ripped another block. Fixed it. Gave up on quilting in the hoop.
Started free motioning today instead. Now, my machine is skipping stitches. So, I gave up on that one and tried my back up. Guess what?! It's skipping stitches too!
I'm going to try a different free motion foot and see if it helps or not. At this point, I am very frustrated, and I don't want to rip out any more stitching. My luck, I'll put another hole in it. :(
    *sigh*
Back to the machine....Wish me luck!

if it's skipping stitches you may not have a large enough needle, or the right needle to thread combo

That sounds pretty frustrating! I think I would put it away for a day or two. Take apart the machines and clean them so I felt productive and try something else.

    You'll get it, though! :)

You are probably right. I broke my last quilting needle this morning while putting a new block in the quilt. I'm stuck at home with two sick kids trying to suffice with universal and embroidery needles.
I've got my Q-Sensor foot on now, and it seems to be working better than the open toe foot. Tension is good on both sides too.
It's just odd to me because the open toe foot was working great the other day when I did the Fixit quilt for my son. Actually, it was working perfect.
I wonder if it could be the extra bulk of this quilt. It's more or less foundation pieced with a muslin foundation. So, the top is two thicknesses.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm going back to quilting now...hoping to have the quilting done by Saturday.

Then get a bigger one if that doesn't work.

You might not be holding your tongue right either.

Good luck and smiles to you
