For anyone out there with a laminate floor.I know this has nothing to do with quilting but I'm desperate for an answer.
Can you use a steam mop on it? I'd like to buy one for myself and one for my son & d-i-l for christmas. I appreciate any feedback you can give me. Thanks

I use my steamer on mine and have for over a year. Not issues what so ever. =)

It should be fine as long as no water sits on the flooring for any length of time. That's where the trouble starts.

The steam evaporates so fast, that it shouldn't hurt your flooring at all :D:D:D

my dd uses one on real hardwood without problem..i think it would be fine for laminate.
Im looking at getting one too as I have ceramic tile in kitchen.

I have a laminate floor (not the wood tone, but black and white tiles) and have used a steamer for a few years, with great results. Seems like steaming is better than using a mop and bucket. Much less water on it. I also use the steamer on my engineered wood floors that are sealed. No problems.

I use the swiffer wet jet which seems to be working well.

On my original to 1940 or so parquet floors, I've swept, mopped with soap and water, and then added the clear floor wax Future on it. They have held up nicely (can't say the same about me) and still shine in the sunlight. Daily dry moping (with a touch of water spray on it) helps a lot, especially if you have fur kids who shed all the time.
Now as to the laminate, I presume this is real wood glued together and cut into strips. I've seen it in other homes and it is lovely, some have had it for a long time and it still looks like new.

I have laminate floors and when we picked it out, we were told no water, no sweepers. So I use a dust mop and the mop (like a swiffer, and then a spray that Lowe's sells for laminate flooring. You spray it on and then scrub the floor. Only in a 4 x 4 area at a time. It cleans the floor and at the same time polishes it. It really looks good when it is done. It is much easier on my back than a vaccuum cleaner.

I refuse to buy all that 'special' cleaning solutions...just plain water with a little wht. vinegar. Most of the time its plain water. I just refill an empty wet jet bottle with whatever I am going to use. DH drilled a hole and a funnel works to get the liquid in the bottle.
