My BFF and her 9 yo DD took me on a wild trip today. We started out by traveling an hour to a quilt store far away. They had fat quarters for $1.25 each from 8 -9 am. We got there at 8:19 and there were very few fat quarters left. I saw ladies buying HUNDREDS!!! I was only able to grab 10 :( I think there should have been a limit of say 50 per person. So, that was very disappointing. Won't do that again!

Then we went to Krispy Kremes in Provo and had some donuts so I ended up with a sugar crash. Then it was on to the dinosaur museum. Now you have to understand that my husband is the state paleontologist and I've seen more than my share of dinosaur museums and this one a few times. We were there 3 hours!! And my BFF spent the whole time picking my brain about dinosaurs. Thank goodness I know more than I want to about them!! ( I did feel kind of important tho! LOL)

Then we had lunch which gave me the back door trots.

Then it was another quilt store. My favorite one. I only bought an apron pattern but would love to have bought tons of fabric! Beautiful new lines.

Then she brought me home. When I get home my DD, SIL and DGD are here. I made DH cook dinner. I was shot!

I have never been so tired in my life!!! She knows I have fibromyalgia but just doesn't get that I can't do these kinds of days. Oh and she always parks at the end of a parking lot so I walked miles today. Took a lortab and slept for a few hours and feel a tiny bit better. Tomorrow will be rough and I was hoping to sew :(

But getting to play with my DGD for a few hours made it all worthwhile. Only she cries everytime she looks at me. I can hold her with her back to me and she will look around and watch tv but the minute I turn her to me she cries!! I'm starting to get a complex!!!

You'll feel better in the morning after a good night's sleep. Both my DGD AND DGS used to be like that too; rest assured that they grow out of it.

Print this up and lovenly give it to your BFF it should help her understand what you go through to make it through the day. I am so glad you had a fun day my son would not go to anyone but me. He cried even at my husband! Take care Jade

Quiltforme, thank you so much. I have been trying to explain to my husband why I don't have the energy I used to have. He thinks I am getting fat and lazy just because. I had a staph infection in my knee prosthesis a few years back and have never fully recuperated. Thank God I don't have LUPUS or fibromyalgia but I do deal with my pain daily and this is the best explanation I have ever read of what I do every day.

mszooz, I hope it helps you also. Remember that noone will take care of you but YOU! Do what you can when you can and rejoice in your ability to do that much!

Your darling granddaughter will cherish you I am sure.

I certainly hope you earned lots of brownie points with BFF! The spoon theory is how I finally got through to my BFF, you could almost see the light go on in her head!

I was thinking of the same thing, spoon theory, good one to past along to folks who don't understand!

Sooz, The Spoon Theory is the perfect item to give your friends and family who just don't get it. Ten years ago I came down with a rare autoimmune disease, Dermatomyositis, that left me a shadow of the woman I was for many years. It is very hard to explain to a healthy person when you have reached your limit. For those of us with chronic health problems that limit varies from day to day and often from hour to hour. Some of my grandchildren were still in the diaper stage when I first got sick. I was unable to even pick them up for a long time. Some babies are so curious about the world in general that they don't want to settle for looking at one person or thing for more than a minute or two. In a year or two she will be showing you the world.

isn't Fibro a drain??? I have it too, plus a few other things.... and I seem to sleep all day or want too... DH is so sweet and caring about it..... He takes care of most of the hard or unfun things so I can relax and do the fun things. He enables me to do the fun things in life... like quilting and the internet!
