It has been an interesting 3 days... On Tuesday with the high winds we lost power... thankfully we have a woodburner and could keep warm... we were smart enough to take water out in buckets before the power went off.
Last night the neighbors came over to sleep in the living room with their 2 little boys 2 and 4 years old. So we had candlelight and laterns to keep us in some light and were toasty warm.
It is my birthday today and went to play games at a friends house who did have electricity and I got to take a shower there... what a great birthday present. Then for supper had the neighbors over and they even brought a cake. We have a gas stove so we could heat the chili up I made yesterday on the stove, and again ate in the light of the lantern... then another birthday present came at 6:22... THE power came on... what a great present for my 60th birthday. It is the small things that really matter... hoping the rest of you are all safe and warm... I missed you all the last 3 days.

It sounds like you had a very special birthday!
Yes, I agree----it's those special little moments that make life worthwhile.......
(just as an aside, I am your age too (+3) and have raised 3 children....my best memories of them when they were little were not the big special occasions like Christmas or Disneyland but those regular ordinary days when we made tents in the living room or played with blocks.....)
