Around here when some people hear we are to have ice,sleet,snow they run to the store to buy milk,eggs and bread. The radio people say those people are going to make french toast. Kind of a local joke around here.

Too funny Jingle. I know I buy milk because my daughter drinks a lot of it (1%) but I have a truck because I live in an area where the weather gets crappy so...if I truly need something i will venture out otherwise I stay home, throw a log on the fire and enjoy the weather being outside while I am in :-)

Here, it isn't the snow it is the sheets of ice covering the roads :roll: Other places I do chuckle over when one inch of snow closes the whole area down. although I do understand that they are not used to it or equipped to drive on it :wink:

I buy Toilet paper. Hubby says it's an obsession. I stock up- a min. of 48 rolls in the house at all times. Especially for holidays when the stores are closed.

Someday they will thank me.....

I (obviously)live in Minnesota where you would think people wouldn't freak out every time it snows. But NOOOOO, they still drive like idiots when there is more than a 1/2 inch of new white stuff. I love the fact that I work from home and the worst driving I do is the 1/4 mile drive to daycare. (I'd walk but she lives on a major road with no sidewalks there) I used to work near downtown Minneapolis and that was a horrid drive in bad weather. DH takes the bus into work and now has the option to take the train on bad weather days. The train has saved him over a 1/2 hour on the bus when weather gets bad!

We have a friend who moved from NH to SC in the middle of the winter. When he got there, he took the snow plow off of his truck and left it on the front lawn as an ornament. So far, no one has asked him what it is. But, when the snow comes, he's ready! :!: :) :!:

We have 4WD truck and have for the last 10 years, we can go anywhere, any time we want. Not an issue for us.

Well, I live in Virginia. Need I say more? Years ago then Mayor Marion Barry of Washington, D. C. said, when asked about snow removal after a particularly bad storm, "That spring is the best snow removal!" The firestorm that erupted after that comment was priceless.

The roads here are hilly and curvy, coupled with the fact that there is little budgeting for snow removal, you have the recipe for gridlock. My biggest fear in those years was being trapped for hours while driving on the Beltway. I stocked foods, water, blankets, batteries, kitty litter, and a small shovel in the trunk in the event I was stuck. The one thing I could never figure out was "how to rig up a portable toilet." :roll:
