its either a piece of glass or a metal shaving off dh's boot. I'm thinking glass though. I normally wear flip flops in the house but yesterday was barefoot and I felt something go in my foot. Its my right one of course...the one I have lost some motion in the ankle due to repeated sprains and a possible break. So I can't get my foot turned to see if I can see anything and I can't feel anything when I scrape my nail over it but I feel it when I walk! Maybe I can get dd to take a look today and see if she sees anything and if not hopefully it will work its way out soon!

I had a tiny piece in my thumb once - it took a couple of years to work it's way out/dissolve or whatever it did.... couldn't feel it from the outside, but if I touched it the right way, I sure knew it was still there. Hope yours is an easier fix!!

If you can't get it to work it's way out after soaking in some warm soapy water, you need to pick up a tube of 'drawing salve' remember that from your Grandmother's cabinet? They still sell it at WalGreens. It stinks, but it works every time.

Old remedy is to put salt on the entry site. Take a small piece of cotton ball, about the size of a pea. couple of drops of water just dampen. Put salt on damp cotton then put a bandaid with cotton on site. Let stay several hours,
the longer the better. May have to repeat. I have had sucess with this method. Grand parents used a piece of salted meat. Times have changed I don't care to tape salt meat to my foot.

LOL - my thought too. The one I get is black and smelly, but it works. I found a new tube a CVS a few weeks ago.

Try a piece of raw bacon.
This may not work for a glass sliver but it won't hurt to try. I hope it works for you.
To remove a splinter apply a piece of raw bacon for 15 to 20 minutes, the splinter will slide right out. It was suggested to one of my friends on facebook. One of the updates noted they tried it on a piece of glass in their finger and it worked.

oh that brings back memories! I remember having a boil on my arm one time and Grannie taping a piece of fat back to it. I will try some salt and I have a tube of drawing salve somewhere.....just need to dig it out.

That's the one... smelly, sticky, yucky. that tube will last you the rest of your life, if you don't lose it.
