Default Another Hoosier Quilter

Hi everyone- I have been quilting for 13 years. I recently lost my best friend, quilting side kick, and Mother in September and I haven't been able to sew a stitch since. Now I have double the projects and cant get motivated. I am a Mother of a teenage daughter who has no interest in quilting. So I'm on my own now. Before my Mother passed she wanted to make a baby quilt for each of her grown-up Grandchildren, so when they have a baby she would have something for each of them from her. We managed to totally finish 3 and 1 is waiting to be quilted. I have 3 more to make plus all the other baby quilts she picked out. Basically she had 7 Grandchildren and bought enough fabric and patterns to make a dozen quilts! A typical quilter! I hope I can find some inspriation by talking with other quilters.

Hello Jane1141!
Welcome from Minnesota...and another Jane!
I am so sorry to hear about your Mother. (((hugs to you)))
You really need to dive into those projects...it will be hard at first, but then you will find comfort in doing so.
I'm sure your mother would want you to continue quilting.
You will find lots and lots of inspiration here! I am so glad you've joined us!

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Sorry you have lost your mother. When my best friend and quilting buddy passed away suddenly a couple of years ago it put me into a blue funk. I was having a hard time sitting down to my machine or looking at fabric. I signed up for a small wallhanging class even though I didn't feel like it. I didn't want to shop for it or go but I did and had a good day. It seemed to snap me put of my depression and maybe it could work or you.

So sorry your mother passed, hope you will soon be able to finish her quilts and feel her close to you when you work on them. God Bless.

I'm a hoosier too. I lost my 91-year-old mother February 29th this year. It's hard thing to deal with...but with the help from God I'll make and so will you. Keeping busy helps. I do more knitting and crocheting than quilting (quilting is new to me) I have had a lot of difficulty getting in the groove. I finally got a couple dish cloths knitted and yesterday I finished crocheting a Christmas angel. You'll be fine.

I live in Greenwood. Where are you?

Hugs to you!

Welcome from another Hoosier! Where are you located? I'm just outside Fort Wayne. My only quilting friend lives in Florida and we get together just once a year so I am a lonely quilter also!

Welcome, from Texas. I'm so sorry your mother passed. Maybe it'd be easier, if you think of finishing the baby quilts as "one last thing to do, for her." Don't rush; just let her spirit surround you, as you sew. {{{{{HUG}}}}}

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am in Crown Point. Northwest corner of the state. Wassitting here waiting for trick-or-treaters and put the tresfer-eze on one of my many projects. I would have started embroidering it, but I cant find a needle! Can you imagine? There must be a hundred of them in this house somewhere.
