Casually Quilting in Tucson, Arizona
#1
Hi everyone! Let me start out by saying that I feel like I've I've stumbled into shangri-la! What a fabulous community you have all created.
I'm best known as Aunt Fanny. I consider myself a casual quilter as I pretty much lack the patience required to follow a pattern. I don't much care for "rules" lol I love to collect fabric (who here doesn't?), save old jeans to recycle the denim into quilts, & when the spirit moves me, I pull a few things out of my stash & it becomes part of a quilt... eventually. I think I stand back too much in amazement that even me, with so little artistic ability, can make create something as beautiful (in the eye of the beholder) as a quilt.
I am currently passing on this wonderful tradition to my 15 year old neice. This is her first sewing experience at all & she's quite the natural - I'm very impressed at the quality of her work & it's an honor to be part of her first quilt.
I look forward to meeting you & making new friends here!

Hello and welcome from NM. Also "non-artistic" however quilting allows you to be an artist--I love that. Lived in Tucson many, many years ago. Loved the contrast in weather and scenery between the desert and mountains--sledding on Mt. Lemmon was a favorite way to spend a winter day and be able to return to fair weather below.
