Papere piecing can be as simple or as complicated as you can manage. It can also be done on a fabric base. I feel for you abour the points. In PP you have several ways to connect your points. If you are careful (which I wasn't when I started) with your seam stitching, your points come out great. I'm doing a bird wallhanging now and will post a pic when finished.
