Free motion, I've never really attempted think it requires a walking foot on machine, don't own one.. But, when I stitch anything I use the darning foot and trace everything on design on paper, and stencil/quilt by machine now.. Used to quilt by hand.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. One of my favourite sites for easy to follow designs is http://www.theinboxjaunt.com/ Look under the Quilts/tutorials tab at the top of the site for free motion quilting tutorials. She posts a new design each week in Tuesday Tutorials.

Hi from Wisconsin! For FMQ you need to drop (or cover) your feed dogs and use a special foot. The foot usually looks like a circle or a "C". There are lots of other tips here. Just put free motion quilting in the Search to find them. Good luck and have fun!

I WOULD suggest you get a slider, gloves for quilting you need a foot for that I use a spring loaded foot make some practice pieces with fabric and batting if you can slow your machine down do that I like to use 100% silk thread it does not show that much so if you make a mistake it is easier to keep going. It also give you confidence that you can do it.enjoy

Welcome from Southern California. FMQ Leah Day is a great start. She did a 365 day, new design daily, and she's good. No LA, all on her domestic machine.
