Default Greetings all

I'm a newbie, not just to this sight but to anything tech. I'm in a hurry to cram as much learning and fun as I can into my retirement years. This week that means organizing my sewing room in preparation for a new sewing machine. Problem is I've my eye on a make that is very obscure. It's a Sovereign. I've Google it - only to learn that it might be a Japanese make. I've also searched Pinterest where I found one photo that is totally different from the one I've found. Has any one out there any ideas? I'm going to check it out tomorrow and will bring thread and fabric and attempt to sew with it. I'd appreciate any advice from you who own vintage machines on what I should check for. The seller has never used it. It was her husband's and it was purchased in the 70ies though in comparing it to other photos on line it appears to me to be from early 60ies. I'm looking for a strong machine that sews arrow straight stitches.
Looking foreward to anyones ideas.

Hello and welcome to the board and congratulations on your retirement!
I can't offer any advice on vintage sewing machines, but wanted to say hi!

Welcome from NJ. You might want to post this question over in the Vintage section as well. Some folks there may not frequent other areas of the board?? Sorry I know nothing of the machine you're looking at. I do know many folks here are Singer 201 fans for those arrow-straight stitches you are looking for though. Good luck.
