Hi, I'm Pat and have been quilting about 7 years. It will take several life times to use up all the fabric in my stash -- if I don't buy any more. Just love quilting -- all the time. Fortunately I'm retired so I don't have a job to interfere with my quilting.

Pat question for ya...do you ever run out of people to give your quilts to? lucky for me my kids & grand daughters love my quilts.
Jillo I went to fort scott ks for the first time this last june, we flew in Ks city so pretty.

I have a son and daughter and 5 grandkids who love my quilts. In 2000 and again in 2004 I made each of them a quilt for Christmas. I'm keeping my other quilts for a while at least. Don't have any valuable jewels, antiques, paintings, etc. to pass on to my family -- their inheritance for the most part will be my quilts. I plan to let each of them indicate which quilts (1st, 2nd, 3rd choices) they want and hopefully they all won't want the same ones (both my daughter and daughter-in-law love blue). Then some time in the future when I get another group of 10 or 12, I'll distribute the first group. I've seen too many families split apart over who gets their parents belongings. Maybe this will smooth things over.

Hi, I'm From Kansas City also, was born and raised in KC and love it, Now I live 50 miles North in a little town of 200 people. We have 30 acres up here and absolutely love it. My husband of 35 years still works in Kansas City, Ks. he hates the commute but says its worth it. We have lived up here for 26 years but go to KC at least two or 3 times a month. I love to quilt, I had an Aunt that was an awesome quilter though she passed away several years ago before I was really into quilting so I don't have her expert opinion to rely on, so am so glad to have this message board. I am new and just signed on today, I am looking forward to getting to know you all and learn some of your teniques.

Hi Sharon,

I have mostly learned from TV quilting programs, books and on-line. I don't do well in a class; 'tho most quilters swear by them. I'm always 'way behind the rest of the students and besides no matter what supplies I take to class, there is always something I forgot! I started watching Fons & Porter in 1995 or 96. I kept thinking quilting sounded like fun but until we retired in 1999 I never had the time. Now that's all I do. My husband likes to cook and bake and who am I to stop him? (I even got him a coffee cup that says "I cook, she quilts.")

I do my own machine quilting and have had a hard time pushing the quilt through the machine. In the past for a large quilt (I've only made 4 large ones) I did it in sections. But my husband of 51 yrs. bought me a Grace Quilting Frame and a Janome professional sewing machine for Christmas.
I'm anxious for him to get the many, many pieces together so I can start practicing my "short-arm" quilting.

I buy most of my quilting books from Amazon.com because they're cheaper. And most of my fabric is purchased on line, not because it's cheaper but because I won't have to run all over town looking for a particular fabric. There are hundreds and hundreds of on-line shops.

Just got back from water aerobics at the Y and it's time to get sewing. Sitting at a sewing machine for several hours a day isn't much exercise!!!

There are two great quilt shops in Lee's Summit that I like, especially the new one by the railroad tracks. I don't get to them very often, but when I do, I usually have a hard time N0T buying a lot. Nice to hear from you.
