Welcome from Iowa! I'm working on a mystery quilt right now that calls for 60 - 8 1/2 inch strip pieced squares.....first time I've done it in a long time and it is kind of fun. I'm using pages from a old telephone book with a very small stitch and it is very easy to tear off afterwards. I square it up before I tear off the paper. Only 35 more to go!

Greetings and welcome from Oregon City, OR. You received some great answers to your questions. I've done the string quilts by sewing to muslin. Gives an additional thickness and use flannel instead of batting.

Yes, this group is so helpful and willing to work with the newbies. The questions people present are my main interest on this Board. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for your warm welcomes. I am so enjoying my sewing machine again after many years away from it. I have already learned a lot from this board and hope to be able to contribute some day.. I am so glad you are all here for SOS service.

p.s. I also meant to thank Sadiemae and Theresa for their helpful responses. I may need to study up on paper piecing a little more and then try it.
