Hello from Japan

I've been lurking about this board for some time now, learning all sorts of things. Thank you so much for all your help, even if you didn't know you were giving it!
About me: I've been sewing almost my entire life (clothes, furnishings, etc.), and began quilting in earnest only last summer (tho I've got a few UFOs stashed away dating back years), mainly because of a critical build-up of scraps and ends and unused yardage from more than 30 years of sewing. Also, a friend was getting married and I just did not want to buy yet another mass-produced item that would be quickly forgotten, especially at a time when money was tight. (Anyway, at nearly 50, she really didn't need my help in building a new household.) So, my first real quilt was born inspired by pictures, instructions and links supplied on this site and a selection of traditional Japanese fabrics. Since then, it's all been downhill as I rediscover forgotten treasures in my stash and madly make plans for new projects. And I thought my fabriholic tendencies were bad before....
Looking forward to learning and sharing more.

Thanks Craftybear. My main other crafty outlet is cooking, I love to feed people! But along less fattening lines, I do a little knitting and needlepoint, garden and endlessly rearrange my closets. I've tried to crochet, figuring it's one of the least intrusive things I could do while commuting but can't seem to get into it. Maybe someday...
